</p><p>L'<a href="Aure_(rivi%C3%A8re)" title="Aure (rivière)">Aure</a>, d'une longueur de 82 <abbr class="abbr" title="kilomètre">km</abbr>, prend sa source dans la commune de <a href="Caumont-sur-Aure" title="Caumont-sur-Aure">Caumont-sur-Aure</a> et se jette dans la <a href="Vire_(fleuve)" title="Vire (fleuve)">Vire</a> en limite d'<a href="Osmanville" title="Osmanville">Osmanville</a>, <a href="Isigny-sur-Mer" title="Isigny-sur-Mer">Isigny-sur-Mer</a> et <a href="Carentan-les-Marais" title="Carentan-les-Marais">Carentan-les-Marais</a>, après avoir traversé <span class="nowrap">26 communes</span><sup id="cite_ref-8" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-8"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>6<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>. Les caractéristiques <a href="Hydrologie" title="Hydrologie">hydrologiques</a> de l'Aure sont données par la <a href="Station_hydrologique" title="Station hydrologique">station hydrologique</a> située sur la commune de <a href="Maisons_(Aude)" title="Maisons (Aude)">Maisons</a>. <p>Plusieurs études ont été menées afin de caractériser les types climatiques auxquels est exposé le territoire national. Les zonages obtenus diffèrent selon les méthodes utilisées, la nature et le nombre des paramètres pris en compte, le maillage territorial des données et la période de référence. En 2010, le climat de la commune était ainsi de type <a href="Climat_de_la_France#2010-T5" title="Climat de la France">climat océanique franc</a>, selon une étude du <a href="Centre_national_de_la_recherche_scientifique" title="Centre national de la recherche scientifique">Centre national de la recherche scientifique</a> (CNRS) s'appuyant sur une méthode combinant données climatiques et facteurs de milieu (topographie, occupation des sols, etc.) et des données couvrant la <a href="Normale_climatique" title="Normale climatique">période 1971-2000</a><sup id="cite_ref-Joly_11-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Joly-11"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>8<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>. En 2020, le climat prédominant est classé Cfb, selon la <a href="Classification_de_K%C3%B6ppen" title="Classification de Köppen">classification de Köppen-Geiger</a>, pour la période 1988-2017, à savoir un climat tempéré à été frais sans saison sèche<sup id="cite_ref-12" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-12"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>9<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>. Par ailleurs <a href="M%C3%A9t%C3%A9o-France" title="Météo-France">Météo-France</a> publie en 2020 une nouvelle typologie des <a href="Climat_de_la_France" title="Climat de la France">climats de la France métropolitaine</a> dans laquelle la commune est exposée à un <a href="Climat_de_la_France#MF-T1" title="Climat de la France">climat océanique</a><sup id="cite_ref-13" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-13"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>10<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> et est dans la région climatique <a href="Climat_de_la_France#MF-R4" title="Climat de la France"> Normandie (Cotentin, Orne)</a>, caractérisée par une pluviométrie relativement élevée (850 <abbr class="abbr" title="millimètre par are">mm/a</abbr>) et un été frais (<span title="59,9 °F ou 288,7 K">15,5 </span><abbr class="abbr" title="degré Celsius">°C</abbr>) et venté<sup id="cite_ref-14" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-14"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>11<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>. </p><p>Pour la période 1971-2000, la température annuelle moyenne est de <span title="51,3 °F ou 283,9 K">10,7 </span><abbr class="abbr" title="degré Celsius">°C</abbr>, avec une <a href="Amplitude_thermique" title="Amplitude thermique">amplitude thermique</a> annuelle de <span title="34,7 °F ou 274,7 K">1,5 </span><abbr class="abbr" title="degré Celsius">°C</abbr>. Le cumul annuel moyen de précipitations est de 806 <abbr class="abbr" title="millimètre">mm</abbr>, avec 13,3 jours de précipitations en janvier et 8,2 jours en juillet<sup id="cite_ref-Joly_11-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Joly-11"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>8<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>. <p>L'évolution du nombre d'habitants est connue à travers les <a href="Recensement_de_la_population" title="Recensement de la population">recensements de la population</a> effectués dans la commune depuis 1793. Pour les communes de moins de 10 000 habitants, une enquête de recensement portant sur toute la population est réalisée tous les cinq ans, les populations de référence des années intermédiaires étant quant à elles estimées par interpolation ou extrapolation<sup id="cite_ref-insee_orga_rec_39-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-insee_orga_rec-39"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>34<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>. Pour la commune, le premier recensement exhaustif entrant dans le cadre du nouveau dispositif a été réalisé en 2006<sup id="cite_ref-40" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-40"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>35<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>.

Officiellement créé en novembre 2013, le Football Club de Commes fait évoluer deux équipes de <a href="Football" title="Football">football</a> en <a href="District_d%C3%A9partemental_de_football" title="District départemental de football"><abbr class="abbr" title="Troisième">3<sup>e</sup></abbr> division de district</a><sup id="cite_ref-43" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-43"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>37<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>.
